Sci-Fi Prototyping: “Terra-reforming” (from the anthology “Chiku heno SF” [SF for the Earth])

“Terra-reforming,” a story I wrote as a follow-up to the Sci-Fi Prototyping workshop conducted at the DENSO Advanced Research Institute, is included in the anthology "Chiku heno SF" [SF for the Earth], edited by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of Japan and published by Hayakawa Shobo in 2024.

The original concept is credited to the DENSO Advanced Research Institute, with the story written by Yashima Yugen. This short story was written based on ideas from a plot created by the participants of the Sci-Fi Prototyping workshop.

In a future where super-global-warming has advanced, a protagonist raised by AI robots attempts to restore the natural environment through symbiosis with algae.

Please read “A Guide to ‘Terra-reforming’ by Janus”

A girl in an environment suit stands by a lake. In a world with advanced super-global-warming, one cannot even go outside without a suit.
The cultured algae holds various possibilities, but releasing it would have a significant impact on the ecosystem.
A robot deliberately reads a paper book. What path has AI chosen to ensure its own diversity?
